Sunday, August 10, 3-6 p.m. - Boot Camp: Transmission and Wholesale Markets
Introduction
Whether you are new to wholesale electricity markets or
interested in a refresher course to prepare for the upcoming week of
high-level sessions, the Transmission and Wholesale Markets School’s Boot
Camp is designed for your needs. The Boot Camp is a three-hour session
focused on the functions and operation of power systems and markets, which
is laced with descriptions of the conventional activities of electric
utilities. Topics covered include financing and corporate structure, an
overview of pricing and tariffs, and the regulatory environment
in which utilities operate.
The Boot Camp discussion will be led by EEI’s Jim Fama and Christensen
Associates Energy Consulting’s Robert J. Camfield, who together bring over
60 years of utility regulatory experience to the classroom.
There is a $295 additional fee associated with this pre-event.

Edison Electric Institute and Christensen Associates Energy Consulting present EEI’s 2008 Transmission and Wholesale Markets School, an accredited course with the University of Wisconsin. The five-day course provides a review of market design, transmission pricing, expansion planning, and operational issues with an emphasis on the institutional dimensions of policy. When you join us, you will be engaged with a team of well-known experts and seasoned veterans who will describe the current thinking on pricing and market design.

This course also features panel discussions on policy issues and case
studies from NYISO, Entergy, MISO, and Southern Company. Our course articulates the technical and
institutional issues on reliability, market reform, and competition, and
presents alternatives to help market players gain a comprehensive foundation
and further understanding of electric market design.
