Jim Thompson graduated with honor from Georgia Tech, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. He joined Gulf Power in 1980 as an analyst in that company’s Rate Department. Jim became a member of Gulf Power’s marketing organization in 1988, and assumed the duties of Corporate Accounts Manager at Southern Company in 1997. He moved to his current position at Gulf Power in 2000, with responsibility for pricing and load research.
Jim’s career has included involvement with various marketing functions including program development and evaluation, market research, economic development and market planning. Throughout most of his time at Gulf Power/Southern Company Jim has been involved in pricing of Gulf Power’s energy services. He has testified on behalf of Gulf Power before the Florida Public Service Commission in support of specific rate structures and in the Company’s last general rate case.
A father of three, Jim enjoys youth sports, college sports, fishing and travel.
